Brighton DJ's and Producers Get Inspired!

The country's leading music training organisation, Access to Music (ATM), is bringing it's unique brand of contemporary music training to local musicians this September with the launch of an exciting new course entitled Creating Music Through Technology (CMTT).
Founded in 1992, Access to Music is a national music training organisation specialising in the design of vocational music training programmes aimed at those seeking a career in the music industry. ATM continues to develop popular music provision across the country both through partnerships with local colleges and with direct funding from the Learning & Skills Council. Access to Music is also responsible for the delivery of the Music Industry Consultancy Service for the government's New Deal for Musicians scheme in 6 of the country's 10 regions. ATM launched it's new British Academy of New Music in East London in November 2002. The National Centre was officially opened by ATM patron, the world famous Beatles Producer, Sir George Martin CBE.
Designed especially for DJs and programmers, Creating Music Through Technology has proved to be extremely popular since it's September 2001 national launch and the course provides an opportunity for those looking to develop their creative musical skills in media music, for example, adverts and films, as well as the more creative dance/pop music and DJ work. The course also includes a performance element, which enables students to gain professional experience in local and regional dance clubs.
Scream studios has been specially selected by ATM as the ideal venue to provide a creative & vibrant setting for learning. The site comprises themed rehearsal rooms, state-of-the-art recording studio, a technology suite (including a DJ booth), lecture/seminar room and student study areas well equipped with computers.
ATM have enlisted the help of well respected local, Jem Hannam, to ensure that the new term kicks off to a great start. Jem's CV reads like a festival line-up, having appeared on the same bill as international DJs Carl Cox, Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) & Daft Punk, to name but a few, as well as having supported chart topping band Toploader. Jem is also a highly experienced teacher, being the Director of local studio, Squeezebox.
Jem Hannam, new CMTT Programme Leader , discusses;
'I think the fact that ATM courses are taught by working musicians & DJs is the huge fundamental difference between this and other courses. This course really benefits people who would usually find a 'normal' college course uninteresting, especially if they'd rather be mixing or gigging! ATM's courses provide the opportunity to fulfil both of these requirements, by allowing people to pursue their dreams in a realistic manner.'
ATM programmes are highly successful and the organisation is renowned for it's practical and innovative approach to music training. All courses carry a nationally recognised qualification, which enables students to access Higher Education, whilst developing a wide range of relevant skills which will equip them well when starting out on a career within the music industry. ATM receives full funding from the Learning & Skills Council which means we are able to offer free tuition to students aged 16-19, and subsidised tuition to all others.
