Black Grass - Oh Jah featuring Jah Marnyah
Released 16th October 2006
Following the success of the single "Don’t Leave Me This Way" and their album "A Hundred Days In One", Black Grass drop the next instalment from the long-player, the roots rockin’ "Oh Jah".
It’s a summer-infused reggae groover that’s one of the highlights of the excellently received second Black Grass album. Featuring rising reggae MC Jah Mamyah on vocals, this has all the attributes of a good-times classic.
Collaborating on a superb bassy ragga effort, Jah chats about the altogether bigger picture citing suffering in Rwanda and current economical pressures. A rhythmic chorus and funky chords keep things musically uplifting, just as Jah almighty himself would ave it… The re-edits commence with rougher beats and subdued bass courtesy of The Nextmen.
Killer synths and maximum warped basslines rumble on this heavy edit, dubbed (excuse the pun) "Mr Trick Neutron Riddim Version". Melodic sax harmonies and groovy breaks contribute via the "Lucha Contra De La Injuticia" mix.
The Brighton based duo add to the hype surrounding their latest Catskills album - taking a blessing from Jah (or two) along the way.
