Bora Bora @ Heaven - London

In the most eagerly awaited event of the year, the Bora-Bora soundsystem touches down at Heaven nightclub and along with them they bring possibly the worlds biggest DJ for his first performance in London since the year 2000, Danny Tenaglia.

After the 8th successful season in Ibiza Bora-Bora was sensationally forced to close, shocking the clubbing world as the beach party had become more popular than ever. To celebrate the end of an era and the start of another with the Bora-Bora world tour, Heaven nightclub will be transformed with the use of palm trees and other features to make Gee and the boys feel at home.

Brief History of Bora-Bora: Bora-Bora as it is today began in 1997 by a cosmopolitan band of workers and Gee Moore (aka DJ Gee). Following his time as a singer-guitarist in various bands playing in clubs and bars around London, Gee arrived in Ibiza to have a break for a few weeks where he was to play at a club in a small family resort.

It was after only a week that he was introduced to a man who would change his life forever - Etienne from Belgium, the new manager of a small quiet bar called Bora-Bora and it wasn’t long before he asked Gee if he wanted to try out the new sound system. The bar staff was comprised of people from all over the world who over time both worked and played hard together. In no time at all a close friendship was built and both tourists and workers on the island alike picked up on the unique vibe of Bora-Bora and something very special started to happen on the beach in Playa den Bossa, Ibiza.

Although for the first two years they tried to keep the press away through fear of spoiling the vibe, the bar continued to grow in popularity every year with Gee playing his legendary 12 hours sets every day in the sun. The rest as they say is history and since its start, Bora-Bora has featured an incredible array of talented guest DJs including Brandon & Alex, Mr. C, Smoking Jo, Malcolm Duffy, Fat Tony, Fergie, Todd Terry, Gordon Edge (trumpet man) and of course Danny Tenaglia to mention but a few.

With a Grammy, 2 Dancestar awards including one for lifetime achievement and 2 Muzik/Ericcson awards under his belt alongside numerous albums, dance tracks and remixes it’s easy to see how Danny Tenaglia is one of the world’s most respected DJs. After starting out as a DJ in the late 70’s Danny was introduced to the works of Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage; he was to become his inspiration to grow and build into the DJ that he is today. Danny now has numerous dance music records under his belt, held some of the most respected residencies throughout the world and become one of the most loved DJs of our time.

So it seems truly apt that on this night in London Mr. Tenaglia should join Gee and the boys for their farewell to the infamous bar that has given so many clubbers and workers on the White Isle so much pleasure in the sun over the past eight summer seasons.
