Chanel - My Life (Remixes)

Released 31st October 2005
OneTwo Records continues to expand their quality soul stable with the long-awaited release of Chanel’s "My Life".
The track is backed by an instantly recognisable Crusaders sample, lifted from their classic hit "Street Life" over which Chanel has layered a self-penned sould track that has already become a cult hit thanks to a few copies that have filtered through to select radio stations and DJs courtesy of MAPP Records USA. The original promo found its way to the offices of Smooth FM (formally known as Jazz FM) where the unsigned, unknown track was soon causing the switch board to jam every time it was played and has since become the most requested track on their playlist.
Little was known about Chanel at this stage and it was only after OneTwo investigated that the young soulstress was uncovered, living in Philli, and keeping herself busy working with the likes of Alex ‘Godson’ Richbourg (Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis / Janet Jackson), Anthony ‘TC’ Cunningham (Kelly Price), Adam Blackstone (John Legend) and Kiesha Miles (Ciarra). With a gospel choir background, a support slot for Floetry under her belt and idols including Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and Jill Scott, Chanel’s soul credentials are firmly in place and "My Life" looks set to be the record that takes her to the next level.
"My Life’s the type of song that everyone can relate to" explains Chanel, "it’s all about finding that one true love you just can’t live without."
The original track has been given a pulsing electronic makeover by house hero and Clubbing UK contributor, Seamus Haji and his studio partner Paul Emmanuel. The lads jet back to that disco-ball haven of the 70’s for some gorgeous glitter-spangled vocal house funk.
Haji & Emmanuel rocket propels "My Life" to the 21st century with upfront funky beats and whooshing filters, let, right and centre. The extended 12 Mix increases bouncability with a lengthy building intro and just as much gorgeous vocals and funkyness.
Possibly the world’s most under-rated production/remix duo, and certainly one of the UK finest funky pairings. The irresistible combo of Haji and Emmanual can do no wrong in our humble opinion, and continue to develop in a glorious fashion.
