ClubHunt National Street Dance Competition

ClubHunt Unveils £100,000 National Street Dance Competition
Major Youth Movement Initiative Kicks Off Search For UK’s Best Dancer
ClubHunt, a soon-to-be-launched nationwide project to harness and celebrate the creativity of UK youth culture, has launched a massive national street dance competition, offering £100,000 in prizes to the winners.
Launched fully on September 30th 2006, the ClubHunt movement aims to quickly become the hottest online hangout for 16 - 25 years olds in the UK, acting as both a showcase and a melting pot of young UK-based talent across all genres of physical creativity, from clothing designers and dancers to DJs and poets.
Due to take place from late November 2006 until June 2007, the competition will begin with a series of regional heats, taking place at venues around the UK, including Newcastle, Manchester, Wolverhampton, Bristol, Portsmouth and London. For a full list of locations and venues please see below. These heats will take place from November 29th 2006 to February 28th 2007.
The national final will be a spectacular celebration of street dance, taking place at one of two world famous London-based ‘landmark’ venues in the early part of Summer 2007. The event will represent not only winning competitors from the heats but also some leading global dance acts - including a collective of internationally renowned dancers, along with a line up of b-boxers, graffiti artists, clothing designers and musicians all showing off their talent to a live audience in a carnival atmosphere.
The event will be judged by a panel of experts, which will consider entrants from two categories - a solo category for male and female artists and a group category. The winner of each category will bag £50,000 and participants can enter once in both categories. Additional spot prizes will also be available to both the entrants and the audience - including ‘money-can’t-buy’ prizes such as a master class session with ClubHunt’s in-house team of independently successful international pro-dancers.
As the driving force behind the Dance Competition, ClubHunt will shortly offer a bespoke virtual destination for young trend-setting socially minded individuals, offering an exclusive concierge service with member benefits that are specific to the project’s core audience alongside community features such as chatrooms and forums. This groundbreaking project will be run by young people, for young people and will be wholly UK focussed.
The project will offer a number of wide-ranging products and services tailored to the needs of the UK youth market, such as a clothing store featuring the designs of young, unsigned designers (ClubBoutique), a mobile phone comparison service (ClubTariff) and many other useful resources, including ClubAid, an information on subjects such as housing, social and financial issues. Although the ClubHunt project will fully launch on 30th September 2006, sign up for both the competition and the project is currently taking place at the pre-launch site: www.clubhunt.co.uk.
Each regional heat will be filmed and extracts will thereafter be shown on the ClubHunt TV, available online from shortly after each round is held.
Sunny Soomal, co-founder and Director of ClubHunt, commented:
"We really want to let the national dance competition signal our intentions regarding ClubHunt as a project which will become a movement amongst the UK’s trend-setting youth audiences, overcoming traditional boundaries such as race and colour in the process. This series of events is going to be huge, building up to a national scale early next year with the final, which we anticipate should be one of the pre-eminent European youth culture events for 2007.
"The ClubHunt concept was really borne out of an idea that the UK youth market is significantly under-catered for online in this country. As recent graduates ourselves, we believe that our peers want a UK-centric, along with access to first-rate information about where to go out from a single source that they trust and therefore use regularly. Moreover with services such as ClubBoutique, ClubTariff and ClubAid we’re going to take the idea much further, delivering a range of products and services catered to the needs of this age group which is going to continue to expand rapidly over the next few months with additional services going
live."
