CONCORDE 2 BRIGHTON - 2006 CLUB LISTINGS
Friday 22nd December Zero Culture’s Xmas Party: Bez’s Christmas Stocking Filler with Bez (Happy Mondays) performing live (live means he will be an all singing, dancing, MC’ing Maraca shacking entertainment machine!). Bez the man, the legend, the living icon, continues to push the Madchester sound onwards into the next dimension.
After his key involvement with Shaun Ryder in the Happy Mondays, Bez has recently been sky rocketed into individual superstardom. With regular TV appearances, ranging from winning celebrity Big Brother, to Never Mind the Buzzcocks and everything in between. His new band Domino Bones are smashing it on the live circuit and ‘Bez’s Madchester Anthems’ is flying off the shelves.
He’s still a house hold name - ten years on from the end of the Hacienda and the Madchester scene + The Autobots (Dex & FX from these break legends) + Los Albertos (live) + Beardyman (UK beatbox champion), plus resident DJs from Cut Loose, Zapback, Zero Culture & Brighton Breaks All-nighter. Hosted by MC Raff.
In the front bar: Chatterbox playing upfront d‘n’b. In the back bar: Electronica & techno mash up from Black Box resident DJs. Musical styles: breaks, Madchester, old skool, d n b, hip hop, jungle & indie! 11pm – 4am. 2 pounds before 11.30pm. 6 pounds after.
None of the members had any formal musical training, not even the ability to play any instruments! Fronted by Buster Bloodvessel, one of the main reasons for their notoriety was because of the outlandish, shaven headed, lead vocalist. Buster's exploits got them banned from the chart show Top of The Pops and even from the nation of Italy for ten years. Buster had decided after a particularly successful concert that he should moon the crowd, later to find that the Pope was in the audience.
Definitely a Christmas ska night not to be missed! + Macc Lad While with the Macc Lads, Muttley proclaimed his band as the "rudest crudest lewdest drunkest band in Christendom” and throughout their time managed to offend a great many people and were repeatedly banned radio stations etc, whilst still retaining a die hard fan base. Doing the music his own now, The Macc Lad looks to offend just as many people and also have a right laugh! + John Otway.
A self-confessed unsuccessful singer-songwriter, John Otway built his cult following through unrelenting touring and his surreal sense of humour, resulting in expert live shows, and fun for everyone! + Ed’s Tenpole Tudor + Smeg’s King Kurt + are the epitome of the Oi! Punk Rock band, with their massive single “Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps” finding chart success and a cult following. Absolutely unmissable! 7.30pm. 20 pounds.
Plus widescreen ubervisuals from VJ Spank and his young apprentice Laser Lightshow, plus fancy dress - Good vs Evil Theme (with prizes for best costumes), dancers & crazy performers, chill out area & 3rd room, plus loads more tbc!
