ErickE - The Beat Is Rockin

Released 29th January 2007
Gusto Records prepare for a filthed up February, as they release ErickE’s "The Beat Is Rockin". A track that’s already been tearing-up dancefloors all over the New Year season.
Simplistic vocals looped over some dirty electro with stomping kicks and chunky bass ignite the original mix. Man of the mo, Fredde Le Grande’s remix manipulates the low frequencies as you may well imagine, using loads of bass and just a sprinkling of vocals.
An uplifting extended mix from Simmons & Christopher pans things out with extra blips and tweaks. Taking it tribal is "Gregor Salto Rocks It Like This Remix". As the Sneakerz mix goes melodic tech and acid-tinged.
Alongside Fredde, the other stand-out edit comes from Skitzofrenix Dope Dub. Twisted and distorted bass, chopped up lyrics and a heart-popping break. Neck-snapping grooves
ErickE himself is a DJ and producer who has been at the top of his game in his native Holland for the past decade. Whether spinning at his Saturday residency at Roxy, at numerous events all over the world or at the Dutch Dance Award-winning Loveboat, Ericke’s energy, enthusiasm and charisma behind the decks has won him a dedicated audience.
Erick's DJ career kicked off in 1986, when he started making a name for himself in Amsterdam as a hip-hop DJ. In 89 he won the Dutch DMC Championship, and a year later he represented Holland in the World Finals. The following years saw a shift in his musical direction, which eventually led to a residency at Amsterdam’s legendary Roxy. His weekly SWET nights were a huge success, until 98, when a slightly over-exuberant memorial after the death of one of Roxy's founders ended in the fiery demise of Holland's most famous club.
ErickE had already established a reputation as a party-starter and was soon playing gigs around the world from London to Ibiza, Jerusalem to Miami, still finding time along the way to run his label OneStar. A label he used to launch his most famous discovery - Mathew Dekay.
Now Ericke is set to win himself even more fans as he releases "The Beat Is Rockin" on Gusto.
