Headman - "On & On"

Released 26th March 2007
Over the last few years Swiss artist Robi Insinna has made a name for himself under his Headman moniker. He has been busy remixing legendary artists like Roxy Music or Yello as well as contemporary counterparts such as Franz Ferdinand, Mylo and The Gossip amongst others.
2006 saw the release of his second album entitled "On" on Gomma Records. Featuring different artists such as Stephane Dewaele from Soulwax, 2 Many DJs, Tara who also sang on "It Rough" and Matt Safer of the Rapture to name but a few. With "On", Headman released a subtle album appealing to one’s mind as well as to one’s legs. He has been praised as one of the pioneers of
the recent disco-punk revival.
"On & On" is the third single taken from the album, this time on his own Relish label. Robi decided to release three new and different versions, all rocking unreasonably hard. On this new mix Headman added raw synth layers and a heavy bass to create a club version of the track sung by Robi and Tara on the album. This new mix is a hi-banging, so prepare to shake your body like crazy. The original club version will be accompanied by another great video directed by Simon Owens.
On the flipside, Zombie Nation aka John Starlight, who is the author of "Kernkraft 400" song and who recently released a third full-length called "Black Toys" on UKW, gave "On & On" a very rare and special remix treatment adding his own twist. He emphasises the voice of Tara, kept the bouncy bassline of the club mix and germanised it, but still keeping the soul of the original.
Last but not least, the troublemakers of Riot In Belgium kept the punk soul of the tune alive. The Australian prodigies, who already released two brilliants 12”s on Robi’s Relish imprint and just released a rave-bomb remix on Tiga’s Turbo Records, put emphasis on the techno side of the track with a fat analogue keyboard line but didn’t swept away those sounds that gave the track all its power. A must-have for the fans of DFA, Kitsuné and the likes, who will fit in any rave, electro and disco set at any time.
