Hed Kandi - Twisted Disco

Hed Kandi - Twisted Disco image

Released 12th February 2007

With her eye firmly on the underground and with her acute taste intact, the Kandi machine jumps back into one of her most familiar guises with a faultless selection of squelching, minimal dirty Twisted Disco. Taking us on an electro journey through the seedier sound of house, Hed Kandi doesn’t fail to deliver an album that truly captures the sound of now; combining some of the biggest electro monsters of 2006 with future classics and underground gems, this is house music for the discerning and the learning. This is Hed Kandi in her filthiest form!

Kandi’s dirty adventure kick starts with Mason’s Ibiza anthem "Exceeder" which gets a welcome vocal addition from the fabulously gritty Princess Superstar and a superb re-working by Toolroom’s Martijn Ten Velden. An updated version of electro hedonists Spektrum’s ubiquitous "Kinda New" from Dirty South keeps things jogging in the right direction.  The momentum continues with house’s current hotshot Fedde Le Grand applying his re-rub genius to Camille Jones "The Creeps" for one of the dirtiest, sleaziest slices of house seduction. Followed effortlessly by the equally sexy D Ramirez track "La Discotek" this has 4am written all over it. The Swedish contingent could obviously not go without representation and Eric Prydz’s current smash "Proper Education" gets the Ingrosso touch for further minimal dancefloor heaven.

CD 2 keeps the tension building with Outworks’s heavy but brilliantly bouncy "Elektro" opening proceedings.  Hook 'n Sling & Kid Kenobi appear with their foreboding, dark and brilliantly produced "The Bump" whilst Kaskade take us to a dreamier dimension with the ethereal "Be Still".  Throwing in an element of nostalgia comes a superlative cover of the classic "Deeper Love" which punches in all directions for an uplifting interlude. M.A.N.D.Y vs Booka Shade take it back to the edge with a bass driven re-rub of the twistedly elegant "Body Language" and underground hero Trentmöller gets to work on Roysöpp’s memorable "What Else Is There?" And Icelandic house honchos GusGus round things up with their delicate and infectious "Hold You".

One of Kandi’s finest outings, Twisted Disco, takes you on a journey through today’s 24-hour party culture. With a sound that continues to monopolise the UK and the coolest dancefloors across the world this double CD gives you an authentic taste of the underground with enough dirty basslines to make your head shake. A more sinister journey from the normally glittering Hed Kandi, but with the same quality stamped all over it, Twisted Disco has everything for the discerning hedonist!
