Immortal Technique feat. Chuck D & KRS One - Bin Laden (Remix)

Released 13th March 2006
Eyes open, wide awake, Immortal Technique is here dropping heat with his first provocative single, ‘Bin Laden’, from the highly anticipated forthcoming album, ‘The Middle Passage’. Spitting conscious minded lyrics covering government wrongdoings and oppressive regimes, this powerful single aims to change your perspective on the events of 9/11, digs that little bit deeper and uncovers a host of remixes too.
Immortal Technique uses his gift of the gab to bring about change, looking to deliver his messages with the help of some world renowned veterans from the US Hip Hop scene. Taking up the remix challenge is DJ Green Lantern, a much respected heavyweight on NY’s finest Hip Hop radio show - Hot 97, as well as being the official tour DJ for Eminem over the past two years. After a recent premier on DJ Green Lantern’s mix show, the reaction was staggering with the phone lines blocked up by listeners wanting more information on Immortal Technique.
When it comes to using one’s voice to preach a message in the Hip Hop game, few names spring to mind more than BDP founder member KRS-One (Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over nearly everyone) or Public Enemie’s, Chuck D. The very fact that both these legendary MC’s wanted to collaborate on this remix is testament to the strength of Immortal Techniques own rhymes, capturing the attention of fans and peers alike. The original version nevertheless stands strong with guest vocals by Mos Def, taking time out of his hectic Hollywood blockbuster schedule to get back to the studio and lay it down on this track.
The final track, ‘The War-Vs-US all’ is a spoken word track from Mumia Abu Jamal with a similar mission to open our eyes and speak the truth about the current state of America. Criticising the Government’s expenditure on defence, which has rocketed since the collapse of the twin towers, it is hard not to feel enraged when hearing these powerful words over a rather non existent beat, delivered almost as an alternative News broadcast. Both Immortal Technique and Mumia Abu Jamal obviously share a similar vision on the negative decisions made by their Countries leaders and it is a really nice contrast of
deliveries between the two tracks, broadening the spectrum of listeners who can relate to each MC’s words.
The album ‘The Middle Passage’ is set to drop in the UK at the end of Summer 2006 so be sure to grab a slice of knowledge.
