James Zabiela - Weird Science

James Zabiela - Weird Science image

Released 9th October 2006

"Robophobia" was arguably one of the records of 2005, made all the more remarkable as it marked James Zabiela’s first foray into original production. Now the boy wonder returns with the eagerly anticipated follow-up - "Weird Science".

Easily one of the most mispelt names in dance music, all bar Yoji Biomanenkanhemonon of course - familiarity of Zabiela (no matter how you spell it) means an awareness of his fresh electronica. Whether it’s via his sets at We Love Sundays @ Space, the UK festival scene, his global travels or his mix compilations, the quality factor never seems to waiver.

The hype surrounding "Weird Science" is already out and about with James busily flaunting the record in recent sets this summer. In short it is well over six minutes of pure electronic fun, solid techy beats surrounded by an influx of JZ-special warp-effects and mind-bending basslines.

In his own "Weirder Science" edit, things get more twisted and mashed than mushy peas in a blender, the sexually abused bassline is barely recognisable.

More manipulation ensues courtesy of a deep Meat Katie Remix, and a super-stompy Kriece Remix seals things up.

The hotly awaited release, put out on Renaissance Records comes after recent vinyl success with the "Utilities EP". After tearing things up on the terraces of Ibiza, James Zabiela returns fully inspired and wired up for his "Weird Science".
