So Mettle Music are back again ready to take on the might of the established compilations with our own individual take on how they should be done (quality over quantity, informative sleeve notes, no compromise for commercial gain, unmixed with plenty of unreleased tracks, you get the picture..).

After their initial highly satisfying and well received foray into the world of "Latin Vibes", "Jazz Vibes: Club Selection" is the third in the Vibes series. Here they take a look at the influence 'that old devil called jazz' has had (and continues to have) on contemporary producers looking to get the dancefloor moving with real musicians playing real instruments.

These are 'jazz vibes' for the 21st century with a respectful nod to the jazz musicians of the past and a succinct snapshot of where the sound is currently at.

Opening up with the delicious "Nubuck" by Jiro, an exclusive Mettle release, and one awesome piano ‘n sax funker to kick things off. Jazzy sounds of Bellcrash’s "Going To Ground" and "Olesscoop" by Steppah Huntah are granted rights through the Sunshine & Soultronik labels respectively.

Some vocal nu-jazz flavours get your toes tapping with Sleepwalker’s "Into The Sun", continuing the faster tempo are the Brooklyn Soul Boys’ "Fort Green Jazzmatazz", a groovy oldskool tune suitable for comical musicals everywhere.

Trevor Loveys’ "Lotta Livin" and Vanishing System’s "Kylon Worlds" go off at rather mad tangent, some beat-scratching come jazz-hop stuff. Some funky De La beats and nice lyrics to match are fresher than a cold, salty shower in Ibiza.

The album closes after a long intro, springing into life with a sunshine-jazz house effort, the previously unreleased "Trans-Atlantic Jazz" by Deep Solution.

Time after time Mettle Music seem to deliver top notch material unlike any other label at present. Our hats go off to Nic Conef, compiler and MD at Mettle HQ.
