Jim Rivers - Restore EP

Released 10th August 2006
SAW Recordings announces the release of Jim Rivers’ "Restore" EP. Jim is an up-and-coming DJ and producer from Bristol who is quickly gaining a fine reputation for his innovative productions which are a brilliant fusion of progressive, techno & electro. After Satoshi Tomiie licensed the track for his "Renaissance presents 3D" mix, SAW signed this young prodigy to the label for a double single EP.
"Restore" is an electro-tech track that begins with minimal drums punctuated by a buzzing layer of bass. This progresses to a euphoric melody that rises and falls in minor keys with heavily layered synth, until booming bass pads and sharp arpeggios polish off the warm layers of sound. For fans of Sasha, Holden and Zabiela, this song is reminiscent of their deeply layered progressive style.
"Future" has a more robotic groove for the techno-minded race of IDM fans and laptop DJs. This track is intelligently crafted into a dark piece of Electro-Tech with slicing synth layers, punchy bassline, bouncy drum pads and echoing effects. Among Rivers’ influences are artists such as James Holden, Petter, Buick Project, Nathan Fake, John Tejada and Tiefschwarz to name a few. He has quickly become a crowd favourite on the Bristol scene and his talent behind the decks has secured him a residency at Empathy, one of Bristol’s best techno/house clubs.
With over nine minutes of electronic kicks, twisted chords, powerful rhythms and chunky bass on "Restore", "Future" delves deeper with the more melodic approach of simple keys, heavy under-tones and groovy kicks, man.
With the executive production duo of Satoshi & Hector behind Bristol’s most promising star, Mr Jim Rivers looks set to shine brightly.
