Ministry Of Sound - Bangkok Thailand

Bangkok - the heart of Southeast Asia - known as the city that never sleeps. That maybe the case for traffic, but should clubbing be your vice (and it is mine) get ready to have your foundations rocked. For come 2am all night-time entertainment venues must close - thanks to the current clamp down by the Interior Minister.
It is here in Thailand’s capital Bangkok that after five long years of wild speculation that Ministry of Sound finally opened its doors in December 2001, situated on Sukhumvit Soi 12, East Side of central Bangkok.
Ministry of Sound represents the beginning of a new age for the capitals serious clubbers. For far too long now, they have been starved of both, up-front tunes and a dance floor big enough to accommodate hedonistic abandonment.
With recent guest including DJ Buff (Ibiza), DJ Heaven (UK), Danny Rampling (UK) and Judge Jules (UK) all having made appearances at Ministry of Sound. Tonight (Thursday 28th Feb 02) saw the arrival of the mighty Brandon Block. Having spent a couple of weeks on the island of Ko Somui, after having recent successes at both Ibiza and Brighton's mighty Honey Club. The night before warming up at the world famous free beach party known as The Full Moon parties held at Sunset beach on Ko Pha-Ngan. Tonight was going to be the perfect carry on..
Normally featuring two rooms (the second of which was closed on the night of my visit?) the main room boasts Asia's loudest sound system (which is saying something believe me)! VIP and corporate boxes over look the main room - it features; three bars, two chill out rooms and two lounging areas too.
The main room also features soft walls (nice touch) that surround the impressive twin level dance floor, and hold your breath - clean working toilets that are as nice as some found at top level hotels (clubs in England take note please). As far as looks go this club is oozing with class and style that embarrasses most clubs around the world.
The expressive 500bht -(£8.20)- entrance fee, includes two drinks, water priced at 90bht (£1.50) and a Vodka Red Bull at 190bht (£3.11). Make it easy on the pocket. Be sure to tart yourself up with your Easter Sunday glad rags, since there is a beautiful people door policy. This is clubbing pre rave scene style, with no UV but lots of lights, lasers and smoke.
The tunes at Ministry of Sound this is for the softer disco influenced foreigners (Que?) of funky house, with the odd harder tune thrown in to get the crowd going wild, Brandon Block showed true versatility slowly easing the South East Asians into clubbing London style. Ministry of Sound managing to get the crowd mixture spot on, with a blend of Thai, Asian & Farange (meaning foreigners in South East Asia), integrate in perfectly with each other.
A first if the truth be told for clubbing here. A club to be seen, an experience to be had; Ministry of Sound, Bangkok.

Please note : The Dblo Club in Bangkok has taken over at Ministry of Sound's former home.
