The MOBO Awards 2004

The MOBO Awards 2004 was held on Thursday 30th September 2004 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Below we have a brief insight in to the MOBO Awards and a full list of 2004 winners...
A number of factors have contributed to the radical mainstream acceptance of 'mobo music' in the UK's music landscape but if you had to pick the most influential it wouldn't be too tough - it’s the MOBO Awards! MOBO has been the main pioneer in the field having helped put both the music and its makers firmly on the map. In the process the Awards show has remained cool, credible and influential with industry and public alike.
Since its creation in 1996 MOBO has seen phenomenal growth and spectacular success in its championing of Black music. Following a MOBO appearance many artists have seen an increase in record sales and heightened media interest - think the unprecedented record sales after appearances in 1998 of Beverley Knight, 1999 of Destiny's Child and 2000 of the Baha Men’s "Who Let The Dogs Out" - all topping the charts.
The tradition of show-stopping performances at MOBO continued into the 21st century. The eighth annual MOBO Awards ceremony took place on Thursday 25th September 2003 at the Royal Albert Hall. The event was webcast live across Europe by AOL Broadband and broadcast on Channel 4 on September 28th.
