MOS Sessions - Mixed by DJ Sneak

Released 20th March 2006
DJ Sneak follows last years critically acclaimed "Housekeepin LP" by getting behind the decks and delivering the latest in essential MOS Sessions series.
When Sneak is behind the decks, we listen. After all, this is the man who inspired Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx. The man who has produced countless worldwide club anthems including "You Can’t Hide From Your Bud" (Classic), "Fix My Sink" (EMI) and with Daft Punk "Digital Love" (Virgin) which were also top 20 UK pop chart smashes. The man who delivered essential re-rubs of artists including Everything But The Girl and The Avalanches. The man who’s released three artist albums to widespread critical acclaim "Blue Funk Files", "Rice and Beans" and "Housekeepin". Most importantly, the man who for the past fifteen years has been at the forefront of the dance music scene delivering the boompty boomp gospel all over the globe.
DJ Sneak’s MOS Sessions compilation coincides nicely with US & European DJ Tours, including a Sneak Beats residency at Ministry Of Sound, London and a stop-over visit to the UAE. Naturally we’ve got all the DJ Sneak Tour Listings in full below… Rated as one of South America’s most cutting edge DJs by a host of industry taste-makers, including Radio 1 hombre and Circus ring-leader/Promoter/DJ Yousef, who said "he’s one of the most under-rated DJs of our time", or something to that effect.
As you’d safely expect that phat and chunky sound kicks straight in, opening with "If" by Audio Werner and the Swirl Peepz Remix of Vernon & Dacosta’s "Fierce Creatures". Chuck Daniels’ "The Get Back" and "Body Dump" by The Silent Salesmen drop, it’s time to crazy as you get your freak on - DJ Sneak style. Quality bass-lines and subtle vocals as he goes deeper…
A few tribal funk tracks later and underground hits like the "No Assembley Firm Mix" of Del Costa & Pedro Grove’s "#37" and the acid-fuelled "Sweat Of Your Brow" by Jully Black, getting a jazzy-garage rework entitled "HodgesAintSweatinIt Redid".
An amazing sped up vocal from "Jazzy Joint" by Nook & Cranny (forcing you to grab the cover), breaks into some jazzy-disco grooves and its plain to see all the afore-mentioned hype is for real. Gorgeous and powerful piano tracks by Stacy Kidd & Lady D keep things uplifting till the interval.
CD 2 continues in a deep, down & dirty fashion, techy to the extreme, with the occasional hand-picked piano riff, Sneak’s own "DJ Sneak Dub" re-edits "Feel The Same" by Tripple X… More acid house and twisted sounds ensue with the unmissable oldskool keys of "Pump Up The Jam" courtesy of D.O.N.S ft Technotronic. They’re followed by his own "Salsa Electronica" (Chuck Daniels Salsa Esqueroso Remix), another stompa with hypnotic capabilities.
Slightly darker he progresses his set for the hardcore masses, then building the filtered beats of Daft Punk’s "Indo Silver Club" and "Family Clone" by Project Kids. Keeping it flowing is another piece of Sneak on vinyl, his 12 inches of "Funk Erotica" do just the thing, finishing off with a truly hidden gem.
Our advice would be, if this is a snapshot of his live club sets - you have to see him for yourself.
