Roger Sanchez - Choice A Collection Of Classics

Released 29th January 2007
The unstoppable Choice series cements itself in the heart of music lovers once again, as house aficionado Roger Sanchez pays homage to his musical roots with this exceptional collection of classic tracks.
With the Choice series being compiled by the biggest and best DJs and producers of our time - it was long overdue that an icon like Sanchez should be persuaded to share his classics with us. Here the S Man has created a double CD filled with funk, jazz, italo disco, salsa, electro, deep and twisted house and more. It showcases seminal tunes and highlights gems that have influenced countless tracks and artists in the years that followed their release.
Says Roger: "I feel honoured to have been asked and it has been a pleasure putting it together. I am at a point now that I can look back on how the dance scene has grown and put the development of my career right next to it. It's nice to go back and underline what started it all."
With no fewer than six exclusive re-edits by Rog, it makes for a very distinguished twelfth release in this stellar series. CD1 is a lounging, sprawling mix filled with 1970s warmth - featuring the underground disco vibe of Two Man Sounds "Que Tal America" and Lafayette Afro Rock "Darkest Light" which is undoubtedly funk in its best form. CD2 includes the acid anthem "Night Moves" by Rikster and the gritty synth techno quality of Steve’ Poindexter’s "Computer Madness".
The Choice series itself explores dance music’s most famous DJs and what they consider to be their all time classic tracks. It’s a chance for them to communicate their own music history and feature tracks that have inspired them over the years to form the foundations of who they are today. The albums also feature the compiler’s own exclusive re-edits that will only ever feature on these albums and nowhere else. Sanchez joins previous master-pieces to include Danny Howells - "Choice" and
Kenny Dope - "Choice".
Azuli Head Honcho comments "We thought Roger was perfect for the series, not only does he have a real history with the scene – he also has a broad appeal as a DJ and his current musical tastes are also really interesting. His sets as well as the radio show always select the best from deep soulful house to NY tribal and his selection for this album has been nothing short of fascinating."
The saying goes "To grasp the future you need to understand the past"…And this is one very special album that does just that…
