Rui Da Silva - Praying Mantis

Rui Da Silva - Praying Mantis image

Released 10th July 2006 (digital download only)

Rui Da Silva’s 64 Records imprint has been raising some appreciative eyebrows in electronic music circles for the best part of a year. Leaving the tribal house behind and looking for a new sonic challenge, Rui's new electro glitchy sound is finding more and more fans with every release.

"Praying Mantis" will be the label’s first album release and what a way to open proceedings. Released worldwide as a digital album, "Praying Mantis" finds Rui Da Silva in wonderfully experimental form; twelve tracks of sonic innovation and electronic dexterity from one of dance music’s finest producers

A few trippy interludes surround the fairly dark and twisted electronic sounds of "The Whole Room Dematerialised" and "Escaping My Mind". The cutely titled "I Slept Great Last Night… No Hangover" wakes things up with some bass heavy tech-house, distorted keys and deep-acid riffs get a little more serious.

A lengthy intro kicks off the ten-and-a-half minute techno epic that is "The Depths Of Ketalar". Keeping things melodic and techy, the mystical sounds of "The Entity" rolls into the final track on the album, "Keeping My Pieces Together" where Rui saves the funky electronica for the end with this superb 3am tech-fused masterpiece.

An interesting change of direction for Da Silva that sees him leaving behind those tribal drums for a more electronic sound altogether. Also keep em peeled for Rui’s remix of Dom Kane’s "Revolution" just out on Randomize Records.

"Praying Mantis" will be available in the UK through iTunes, Napster, Beatport, MSN Music, Wanadoo, HMV Digital Downloads, Tiscali Music Club, Ministry Of Sound, Virgin Downloads and all good on-line record stores.
