Salted Presents - The Flavor Saver EP

 The Flavor Saver EP image

Released 23rd October 2006

At the forefront of the soul-driven deep house music scene for years, it was only a matter of a time until Miguel Migs got given his own imprint. "The Flavor Saver EP" is a fantastic four-tracker that is sure to find a permanent spot in record boxes around the globe.

Originally from Santa Cruz, now residing in San Francisco, Miguel Migs' music evokes feelings as warm as the Californian sunshine. His first foray into the world of music was as guitarist in a world beat dub band, the legacy of this is clear in his music, a passion for reggae and dub is evident through his slew of releases on OM, Large, Naked Music, Yoshitoshi and of course, NRK.

Migs' first house cut was a remix of Naked Music NYC's "If I Fall" back in 1997. The remix, now a cherished rarity, was a stunning debut for the San Fran imprint, combining sultry, sexy vocals with trademark warm bubbly bass. The same year he set up his own eclectic Transport label and began to travel across the globe, vinyl in tow, as the new deep house don.

Migs' rapid rise to the upper echelons of the DJ world is directly related to his abundant production output. But that's not to discount his substantial DJing skills or his unerring feel for what grooves the dance floor. In a city where everyone is a DJ, Migs is an international entity.

The "Flavor Saver EP Vol 1" starts with some funky tribal-esque beats and samba shakes from Jay-J’s Shifted Remix of Miguel Migs featuring Li’Sha with "Do It For You". Melodic keys and echoing vocal snippets set to delight ear-drums everywhere.

Keeping it groovy Chuck Love’s film sampling sounds of "Dream Deep" continues the Salted session in style. Next up, Chuck’s "Feel You Up Vocal" of the Li’Sha Project aural wonder, "Feel". It incorporates yet more lushush Li’Sha lyrics and keeps things strictly uplifting all the way.

Rommsa’ "Sunrise" (JT’s Essential Dub) has a half-stepping intro before a beautiful feel-good break. Again, delicious vocals and more salted flavor tasty beats…

A wicked disco lead EP with lots of soul, and just as you may expect from that man Miguel - "The Flavor Saver EP" is pure gorgeous house through and through.
