Slinky announce Japan Residency

LAUNCHES SHIBOURA - OCTOBER 2002
Slinky have announced the launch of a new weekly residency in Japan for a special exclusive period. The club is called Cube situated in Shiboura, Tokyo with a 1600 capacity spread over two rooms.
The basic idea is to copy and replicate the Opera House in Bournemouth and take it to Tokyo for three months from October to December with the closing night on New Year's Eve 2002. They will be using the same resident DJs, the same guest DJs, as well as UK staff to make the club feel like the same atmosphere as the Opera House. The opening weekend will be on 4 October 2002 with Goldie, DJ Heaven, and Lee Mullin (from Hybrid) all appearing..
The club is being renovated now, and is being designed by UK Slinky Staff and contractors. The music will reflect Slinky on the Friday and showcase the best Trance artists in the world, Saturdays will be more progressive and leaning towards house/tech-house etc. The Saturdays will be built around the particular DJ for that night and are adaptable. They also have the best Japanese DJs booked up although are focusing on Internationals.
They have the full backing of the British Embassy in Tokyo, British Chamber of Commerce, and Tourism Council (although I can't see the Ambassador 'avin it at Slinky?).
The club is a converted apartment building, which has two large dance floors and a large Lounge/Bar area. The interior and exterior will be designed and renovated based on Slinky and The Opera House.
David Ross, who is the lighting engineer for the Orb, Prodigy, and Primal Scream, has designed a new and unique lighting system for the club. The specs for this are being finalized now.
On the sound front a "Function-One" system has been designed for the club, which will be the first time this system has been used in a club in all of Asia (only one club in the UK has the system). This is simply the best (and most expensive) currently available.
We look forward to hearing your views on this and if anyone's interested in reviewing the opening or any of the nights, get in touch and we'll see what we sort out!
