South American Music Conference 2004

10TH - 11TH DECEMBER 2004
For the first time in South America, industry professionals of global electronic music gathered in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 11th December at the Centro Costa Salguero (www.ccs.com.ar). The South American Music Conference aimed to unite international prestigious producers, artists, musicians and other industry professionals.
Impeccable sets by the best DJs of the moment were performed, alongside the protagonists of the local scene, and the scope of technical and aesthetic excellence who came together in the personal style of the city of Buenos Aires: international centre of clubbing with the extroverted character of a Latin American Dance capital.
Conferences and workshops invited the assisting public closer to main artists, producers, trend-setters, and vanguard musicians.
Christian Smith said "I just wanted to thank everyone that was involved in putting together the first South American Music Conference in Buenos Aires Dec 11th. The panels were interesting and I enjoyed participating and giving my input. Usually panels (especially the ones in Miami at WMC) are very boring, but the people in BA showed a lot of enthusiasm and I was really happy to be a part of it. Now to the party ;) the venue reminded me of the 'I Love Techno' event in Belgium. I played in the techno room with good friends Barbara, Chris, Richie, Marco etc...and the room was going off like crazy. I have played Argentina a few times before and know how the scene is dominated by progressive DJs (or shall we call them regressive). Thankfully the organizers had the courage to put on a variety of DJs and made the line-up of this party very interesting. The party got about 25k people (excellent considering its the first time) and all the rooms went off. I had a blast. Looking forward to the second edition! :)"
Dutchman Ferry Corsten smiled "This is one of the most energetic parties of this year. It is just amazing to see the energy in the main room where I played, especially since this was the first time that this event took place. I can’t wait to be back."
BBC Radio 1 supremo Judge Jules echoed these comments "The SAMC event was every bit as good as the best festivals that the UK and Holland have to offer, which in its first year is an amazing achievement."
Jody Westenoff (Way Out West) beamed "Yeah,I had a fantastic time!! Very enjoyable weekend away in sunny Argentina! Extremely well organised event, massive venue, beautiful crowd, great hospitality!! Lets hope this becomes a regular event."
Techno diva Misstress Barbara said "I really had an amazing time and an amazing set in Buenos Aires at the SAMC. I think it's about time that we bring our music down there. It's a beautiful place and people really like to party and dance and it's just about time that South America gets more included in our DJ travel plans!"
And finally Tunrmills resident Tall Paul quoted "I thought it was very well organized, and enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish. The crowd was great and the organizers done fantastic. See ya next year! (hopefully)"
Buenos Aires is now the new epicentre of cultural movement in South America. A city of European appearance with a modern touch, its diversity and dynamic ambiance make it an enlightened city. Having the infrastructure of a great metropolis with world-class cosmopolitan character, it satisfies the diverse and discriminating expectations of the entertainment business. The inexhaustible supply of bistros, bars and nightclubs are the perfect frame for the ritual of local nocturnal activity. Parties start late and don't end until the last turntable is turned off. The South American Music Conference is a unique opportunity to be part of one of the most important events in the worldwide electronic scene in a city that truly never sleeps.
