We Love Homelands 2003 Review

We Love Homelands 2003 image

1/2/3

The filled Bacardi BBar was rammed from start to finish, another room with novelty wooden floors, this time reasonably level as well.  Skipping through we caught the new Justin Timberlake "Don’t Walk Away" remix blaring out during Derrick Carter’s four hour extravaganza.

Grabbing a drink in the new improved Strongbow Lounge we caught the funky as fudge Salome De Bahlia’s "Outra Lugan" (known in our circles as the "la la la song") summer hit and instantly got dragged to the floor.

Pulling ourselves away we stumble across an un-announced appearance on the Radio 1 live stage by the Audio Bullys!  We saw them "reminiscing about the old skool days" with "Snake", "100 Million" amongst others.  They exclusively dropped a Groove Armada remix of their own amazing "Veteran" track!  What a moment to share it with us!

No time to waste - straight over to the Armada boys.  Together with their eight-piece band and real-drummer action, all played on for an awesome 90 minute set.

Massive mellow hits like "By The River", "Remember" the one when Andy Cato played a trombone live on stage.  I’ve never witnessed anyone playing a trombone in such a surreal environment.

The more upbeat, in your face rhythms of "Madder" featuring Red Rat, the absolute classic "Final Shakedown", "Love Box" anthem and the comically appropriate "But I Feel Good (But I Feel High)" rained down on all that gathered.
