World DJ Fund 2004
24th April - 1st May
Supported by some of the biggest names in dance music, 2003s inaugural World DJ Fund global fundraiser achieved phenomenal success. A staggering £260,000 has been raised to date, to support the work of the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy organization.
We are pleased to announce the fundraising week for 2004 will run from 24th April - 1st May during which the entire dance community including clubbers, will be working together to raise money for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in the UK. Full support of the charity comes from patrons including Pete Tong, Trevor Nelson, Tim Westwood, Dave Pearce and Lottie as well as countless promoters and clubs across the UK and abroad. World DJ Fund 2004 is aiming to smash last year's impressive total raised with 2004s dance celebrations covering all scenes and genres. Look out for UK highlights:
• World DJ Fund fundraising week will be launched with their annual World DJ Fund dinner at Quaglino's on the 21st April. Last years dinner was attended by Committee members, industry supporters and DJ's including Dave Pearce, Sara Cox, Tim Westwood, Sister Bliss, So Solid Crew, The Architects, Adam F and Sonique. Performing live on the night was soul diva Jocelyn Brown and Oliver Cheatham with his Number 1 'Make Luv'. The Cuban Brothers hosted the event and helped to raise £40,000 on the night for Nordoff-Robbins.
• A special forthcoming Radio 1 event during this week, details TBA.
• PRS New Dance Writer Award to be awarded to the UK's top dance talent. The new winners will precede 2003s award winners So Solid. For more details of the award check out: www.PRS.co.uk/DanceProject.
The money raised by these World DJ Fund events will go towards The Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Centre, a non-profit making charity created to help people with a wider-ranging number of debilitating conditions. Any monies raised internationally will go to local children charities. During the fundraising week the World DJ Fund will again ask every DJ - from superstars to bedroom and everyone in between - to pledge one night's fee for this great cause. Please visit www.WorldDJFund.com for all the latest news on events in your area.
Look out in the shops now for 'The Bedroom DJ' by author Piper Terret who has pledged 25% of the royalties from her book to be donated to World DJ Fund.
