Wrec - The Great British Moan

Released 24th February 2006 (full release due for Oct)
At 26 years of age Jon Bailey aka MC Wrec is regarded as one of Britain’s most exciting young artists and music entrepreneurs. Known as one of the hardest workers on the circut, this versatile young grafter has shot to fame in recent years after becoming the front man to the award winning live act London Elektricity.
The Surrey born vocalist who spent time growing up in Berlin, London, Southampton, Brighton and stateside in New England, discovered his love for music at a very young age. Listing Michel Jackson, James Brown, Van Morrison, Jay Z, Finley Quay, Sizzla, LSK and Roots Manuva as influences - he first graced the mic in 1995 at a wharehouse party in South Croydon and came up through the traditional ranks of London’s sound-system and pirate radio culture. He earnt his strips chatting over early breakbeats, jungle, house, garage, hip hop and reggae music, before relocating to Southampton in 1998 where he gained a marketing degree, promoted shows, founded the Distortion Crew and his former hip hop group The Pickpockets and became Addict Clothing's Worldwide Music PR manager. It was during this time, Wrec began cutting his teeth working and touring with the likes of First Rate, Ray Keith, DJ Red and Rodney P, spreading his wings both nationally and internationally on the mic.
Now Brighton based, Wrec is resident MC to prestigious records labels including Hospital Records, Custom, Soundtrax and W10 Recordings, plus infamous nights including Fabric Live, Heaven, Hospitality and Friends & Family in London, The Watergate in Berlin plus further residencies in Cardiff, Brighton and Bristol. Now a regular live host and collaborator to acclaimed eclectic acts The Nextmen and The Stanton Warriors, he's toured across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Brasil, Japan and China - working with the likes of Ice T, The Black Eyed Peas, Goldie, Afrika Bambaataa, The Streets, Fabio, and Kanye West's DJ A-Trak to name a few. Superb performances at the likes of Glastonbury, Homelands, Big Chill, BMF Brazil, Shepherds Bush Empire, Radio 1 and The Jazz Café, have secured his place at one of the world's most versatile and entertaining MC’s. With releases on labels including Fat City, Hospital and Scenario plus countless mixtape appearences, he featured on London Elektricity's ‘Power Ballads’ LP, Martin Brew’s single ‘Drop The Beat’ and is currently lock down recording his debut solo material. Working with a tight selection of sort after producers and guests vocalists, Wrec tells us to ‘expect the unexpected’ when questioned on his musical direction.
In addition to the above, he also runs his own ‘management and creative agency’ called Guerrilla Tactics Entertainment. Whilst managing exciting new act The Part Time Heroes and established reggae influenced production duo The Nextmen, his company also handles Addict Clothing’s worldwide music press, and regularly works with the likes of DJ Cash Money, Skitz, Fat Freddy’s Drop, James Zabiela and more. Indeed recently Jon was invited to host the 'Adicolor Collection' press conference for Adidas in Berlin, interviewing style, illustration and design icons including Cey Adams of Def Jam Records, Raymond Choy of Toy2R, Vice Magazine and Italian label Emilio Pucci. He's also been invited to lecture in Bulgaria and Slovenia and recently hosted the 'MTV Media Awards' After Party in London. Known for his hustle and hard work, Wrec has been described by many as one to watch and has received considerable support from some of the industries major players. Difficult to pigeonhole, exciting to listen to, and with fingers in several tasty pies - you can’t knock his drive or take his eyes off the prize. Big things in store! Get ready…
